I went to visit a friend of mine for the weekend and (mostly) kept myself off the internet, which is why I've been so scarce. We did embarassingly girly things involving martini glasses, fruit-flavoured cider, chocolate, Brideshead Revisited and... ahem... The Devil Wears Prada. We balanced it out with James Bond and cheap pizza, though, so it's all okay.

I also fell in love with a red velvet dress and gray woollen cape in Kapp Ahl. Well, we both fell in love with the dress, so we'll have to battle that one out... or form a stage duo of some sort.
I didn't buy either, but I'll probably go back for them when I next have some money. I'm not completely decided on the dress, though — I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with velvet, so I'll have to try and make sure I don't look entirely like a curtain, cushion, or couch before I spend my hard-earned moolah. Opinions?

Velvet used to be my favorite thing in the entire world, but I'm having a hard time deciding what I think of it now. It's great for holidays and costumes, and the odd jacket or collar, but I always feel like big velvet pieces (at least when photographed) always look cheap. HOWEVER, that dress is darling, and if anybody could make it work you can. I would just wear it will really neutral, simple stuff without texture so it doesn't make your outfit explode.
Also, that cape is so cute! Definitely get it.
I think that dress is gorgeous! Plus I always think it's nice to have something velvet-y around the holidays.
I love velvet, but have none of it in my wardrobe at the moment. I over killed a bit during my teen goth days. It feels lovely and cozy to touch and Amber is right it is the perfect xmas clothing. The dress looks great, and it's a good combo with the grey
Love velvet, but im not sure if velvet works best in black and full length when worn. The dress is very cute though and a great shade of red on you. I think if one were to wear a short red velvet dress it really would need to played on the fairytale theme- white stockings, black mary janes, bird on the shoulder kind of thing!
